Who are we?

The Durham University Student Investment Fund, or DUSIF, is a student-led long-only value-focused fund. Since 2019, students have been engaged in every part of the investment process, from idea generation right down to trade execution and portfolio management and are assisted by faculty members and alumni on the Board of Directors.

Market coverage is sector-based, with each sector having a Sector Leader overseeing 4-5 Analysts from across different years and subjects in the Business School.

Our values

We follow a set of guiding principles in our investments:

  • ESG: We believe that a company can only have long-term success if it benefits the world we live in. Although short-term profits may be improved by skirting environmental regulations or exploting labour, companies that engage in these practices not only are morally abhorrent, they also correlate strongly with inferior long-term performance. Besides having this ESG aspect in mind when initially researching companies, we also have a dedicated ESG member on the executive team to ensure that all our investments are of the highest standard.

  • Transparency: Transparency is at the core of what we do. We believe that being accountable to all stakeholders, whether that be university members, company management or the disadvantaged students we fund is of critical importance. As such, we will regularly publish DUSIF research on this site, as well as quarterly/annual reports, and performance of the fund.
